What's Good Local
The Full Picture

A plain-language explanation of what we're building, how it all connects, and where it's going โ€” written for the people who matter most.

๐Ÿš€ Target Soft Launch: March 2027
The Big Picture
What we're actually building and why it matters

What's Good Local started as a beach conditions and local discovery site for Destin, Florida. Visitors scan a QR code, land on the site, and find everything they need for their trip โ€” beach conditions, tours, restaurants, nightlife, and activities โ€” all in one place.

What it's becoming is something larger: a full-stack travel commerce ecosystem that connects tourists, local operators, and hotels into a single platform โ€” with a crypto payment layer underneath that eliminates the fees, chargebacks, and middlemen that currently eat into everyone's margins.

The goal is to become the missing link between the tourist, the operator, and the hotel โ€” and to do it in a way that's cheaper, faster, and more profitable for everyone involved than the existing solutions like FareHarbor and TripShock.

What's Built & Working
These pieces are live and generating real activity today
๐ŸŒŠ

What's Good Local โ€” Destin

Live

Live at destin.whatsgoodlocal.com. Real-time beach conditions, live search across 115+ local experiences, video cards for tours and activities, trip planner, and affiliate booking links for helicopter tours, dolphin cruises, jet skis, yacht charters, and more. Traffic is driven entirely via QR codes โ€” no reliance on Google to recrawl after domain port. Merchant and hotel relationships are already established in Destin.

๐Ÿ“บ

Beach Concierge โ€” Hotel TV Program

Beta โ€” 1 Property Live

A hotel TV advertising and affiliate program currently in beta at one Destin property. 15 channels on the hotel TV system display rotating 30-second CTA spots for local operators โ€” bonfire experiences, fishing charters, helicopter tours โ€” with QR codes guests can scan to book directly. Live beach conditions display in the top corner of every slide, keeping the content relevant and useful rather than just promotional. Early merchant response has been strong. Hardware upgrade to Samsung Lynx in progress.

๐Ÿจ

Hotel Affiliate Partner Program

In Development

Hotel operators are onboarded as affiliate partners via the Listeo platform. Each property gets a login and real-time commission dashboard showing bookings generated through their property. This incentivizes front desk staff to actively promote the program to guests โ€” "All guests receive special discounts on local activities through our rewards program" becomes a genuine selling point that helps the hotel book more rooms and generate ongoing affiliate revenue.

The Hotel TV Business Case
Why hotel operators say yes โ€” in plain numbers

The Problem We're Solving

Current Situation Monthly Cost Reality
Premium cable package (100 rooms) ~$1,000/mo Avg 50% occupancy = half wasted
Guest streaming needs Not provided Guests use their own accounts anyway
In-room upsell revenue $0 No mechanism to monetize guest attention

What We Replace It With

Revenue Stream Model Status
Local operator ad spots (30 sec) Monthly retainer per merchant Beta
Tour/activity QR bookings Affiliate commission, shared with hotel Beta
Hulu/Disney free trial conversions Affiliate commission on subscriptions, shared with hotel Active
VIP rewards program enrollment Recurring guest engagement + repeat bookings Roadmap
Cable cost elimination Keep fiber, drop premium channels Active via Cox partnership

The pitch to a hotel GM: "We eliminate your $1,000/month cable bill, replace it with a revenue share program, give your guests better streaming options via QR code, and pay you a commission on every local activity your guests book."

๐Ÿ“ก

Cox Technology Partnership

In Progress

Cox Cable has invited us into a technology partnership, allowing us to assist them in closing hotel accounts they are actively pursuing. Our monetization layer complements their infrastructure offering โ€” Cox handles the fiber and hardware, we handle the content, affiliate revenue, and guest engagement. This gives us a scalable hotel acquisition channel through an established enterprise sales network.

lilbit.vip โ€” The Payment Layer
The crypto payment concept and why it changes the economics
โ‚ฟ

lilbit.vip

Roadmap โ€” Domain Registered

lilbit.vip is the planned crypto payment gateway for the platform. The concept: accept Bitcoin via BitPay, settle in USD to operators, and eliminate credit card processing fees and chargeback risk entirely. The name reflects both the payment method ("a lil bit of Bitcoin") and the premium experience ("VIP travel").

Why Crypto Changes the Economics

Factor Traditional (FareHarbor/TripShock) lilbit.vip Model
Credit card processing 4โ€“8% per transaction ~1% (BitPay)
Chargeback risk High โ€” travel is high risk category Zero โ€” crypto is irreversible
Operator fee FareHarbor charges ~6% We share savings with operator
Affiliate commission TripShock takes 25โ€“30%, shares fraction We pay 8โ€“10% โ€” double the market rate
Settlement Days to weeks USD, same day via BitPay

Transaction Flow

We keep margin

Florida MTA exemption applies to transactions under $500. High-ticket yacht charters are invoiced hourly (e.g. 6 ร— $375) keeping each transaction under the threshold. Legal review of the travel + crypto combination is a required step before processing any live payments.

Organic Traffic & First Mover Advantage

"Book Destin activities with Bitcoin" is currently an uncontested keyword category. Crypto holders actively search for places to spend โ€” positioning lilbit.vip as the first crypto-native travel marketplace on the Gulf Coast creates a genuine press story and a defensible early position. Coming from the Bitcoin ATM industry, the compliance infrastructure and industry contacts needed to execute this are already in place.

How It All Connects
Each piece feeds the others โ€” that's the point

What's Good Local drives tourist traffic via QR codes. Tourists discover local activities and book them โ€” generating affiliate commissions and building a subscriber list via PushEngage.

Hotel TV / Beach Concierge reaches those same tourists while they're in their hotel room planning the next day. The hotel becomes an active affiliate partner with a financial incentive to promote the platform at the front desk.

Cox partnership gives us a scalable hotel acquisition channel โ€” they bring us into properties they're already selling to, we add the monetization layer.

lilbit.vip becomes the payment rail that makes the whole ecosystem cheaper to operate โ€” lower fees mean better commissions for operators and hotels, which makes us more attractive than FareHarbor and TripShock.

The rewards program turns one-time tourists into repeat customers and gives hotels a genuine loyalty differentiator โ€” "Book here and get VIP discounts on local activities" is a real reason to choose one property over another.
