Top Destin Beaches: All 7 Public Beaches, Ranked

The one you go to when you don't want to pack a cooler. It's a beach with a restaurant row attached — park free, walk fifty feet, and there's a bar, a burger, a taco and a splash pad for the kids. It's the busiest sand on this list and that's the whole point.

Small, close in, and — critically — one of only three beaches in Destin with a lifeguard on it. About a thousand feet of sand and seventy-odd parking spaces, which sounds like plenty until you show up at noon in July.

Nine parking spaces. That's the whole story — and also why locals love it. The city and county bought two neighboring lots for $6.7 million and stretched the frontage from about 65 feet to 184, so there's more sand than there is parking by a wide margin. Walk or bike in and you've basically got a private beach.

Reopened in late April 2026 after decades of on-and-off work, and it is now the single best spot in Destin for little kids. Rock-formed tide pools roped off from the open water of East Pass — knee deep, calm, full of hermit crabs and small fish. Boats and jet skis parade past ten yards away. Nobody's toddler has ever been bored here.

Nothing else in Destin does all of that at once.

Over a mile of beach backed by thirty-foot natural dunes that look like Destin did before anybody built anything on it. It's the only beach on this list with a campground, a nature trail and grills — and the only one that now needs a reservation.

Destin's newest public beach, and it didn't exist the last time most guides were updated. It opened July 15, 2026 after a $16.96 million joint buy by the City of Destin, Okaloosa County and the Trust for Public Land — 340 feet of Gulf front on the most built-up stretch of Scenic 98, permanently public instead of permanently condos.

Here's why it belongs on your shortlist right now: the parking is free. On a road where every other city lot costs $20 for four hours, this one has 49 free spaces and hardly anyone knows it's there yet.
