Top 10 Things to Do at Baytowne Wharf — According to Kids

We consulted the toughest critics on the Emerald Coast — actual kids — and asked them to rank everything at The Village of Baytowne Wharf. Their standards are ruthless, their attention spans are short, and their verdict is final. Here's the official kid-approved top ten.

Kids ziplining over the lagoon at Baytowne Adventure Zone in the Village of Baytowne Wharf
1

The Zipline Over the Lagoon 🪁

"You fly RIGHT OVER THE WATER. I did it six times."

The undisputed champion. The Baytowne Zipline launches kids (and brave parents) across the lagoon with the whole Village spread out below. It's the thing they'll talk about at dinner, in the car, and for three weeks after you get home.

2

The Giant Water Bubbles 🫧

"I walked ON the water like a hamster. Best day ever."

Climb inside a giant inflatable bubble and run, roll, and faceplant across the lagoon's surface. It is exactly as ridiculous and exactly as fun as it sounds — and it produces the single best vacation video you will take all week.

3

The Eurobungy Trampoline 🤸

"I did a backflip. An actual backflip. Mom screamed."

Harnessed to bungee cords, kids bounce two stories high and — with a little coaching from the staff — flip like tiny astronauts. The one attraction where the line is half kids waiting and half parents filming.

4

Sky Trail Ropes Course & Tower Climb 🧗

"It's like being a ninja but in the sky."

A multi-level ropes course through the trees plus a climbing tower for the vertically ambitious. Great for burning off the exact amount of energy that would otherwise be spent asking "what are we doing next" forty times.

5

Blast Arcade & Laser Maze 🕹️

"I beat the laser maze in 31 seconds. I'm basically a spy now."

Air-conditioned, packed with games, and home to the laser maze where kids army-crawl through beams like a heist movie. This is also your rainy-day insurance policy and your "it's 2pm and 96 degrees" escape hatch.

6

Fireworks Over the Lagoon 🎆

"They shoot them right over the water. You can feel it in your chest."

Two big ones left this season, and both are free. Fireworks close out the Perfect Hues Art Fest on Sunday, September 6 at 9 PM, then again on Halloween night at 8 PM to finish Trick or Treat Street. Find a spot on the Events Plaza lawn or watch from the boardwalk — the shells go up over the lagoon, so there's no bad angle. Check the full events lineup for anything added.

7

The Baytowne Carousel 🎠

"I rode the dragon. Obviously."

Race cars, dragons, zebras, and reindeer spinning under festive lights. The younger crowd's #1 with a bullet — and the classic "one more ride" negotiation happens here nightly.

8

Robot Servers at Bunkley's 🤖

"A ROBOT brought my milkshake. I'm never eating anywhere else."

Bunkley's Burgers has indoor robot servers delivering food to tables, which for anyone under twelve outranks the actual burgers, shakes, and boba tea — all of which are also excellent. Dinner and a show, where the show is the future.

Captain Davy's Pirate Takeover 🏴‍☠️

"Captain Davy made a REAL bird appear. I checked. It was real."

Mark Friday, September 18 — International Talk Like a Pirate Day. Captain Davy takes over the Village at 5 PM with a scavenger hunt, a magic show and a costume contest, all free. Worth packing an eye patch for.

10

Putt-Putt & Make-Your-Own Everything ⛳

"I got a hole in one AND made my own charm bracelet. Big day."

Round out the list with a family putt-putt round, custom charm-building at The Charm Bar by Gia Gia, and Dolls & Friends for the American Girl crowd — an entire store of doll outfits and accessories that will require a firm exit strategy.

Fuel the Fun: The Official Kid-Approved Treat Stops 🍦

No Baytowne ranking is complete without the sugar circuit. The panel was unanimous: you need at least one treat stop per visit, and ideally one per hour.

🍨 Moo La La Ice Cream

Twenty-four flavors of decadent, creamy ice cream plus handcrafted pastries in a cozy little shop. The panel's overall champion — the "can we go to the cow place" requests start before lunch.

🍬 Sugar Planet

The sweets factory of your child's dreams: walls of candy where kids mix their own bag from hundreds of classics and new favorites, plus ice cream, chocolate desserts, and a selfie spot. Enter with a budget. It will not survive.

🍧 Tony Larue's New Orleans Snoballs

Fluffy New Orleans-style snoballs in every color a kid can point at — plus kettle corn, cotton candy, and popcorn. The ultimate hot-afternoon reset button between Adventure Zone rounds.

🍩 Honorable Mentions

Charlie's Café serves locally famous Charlie's Donuts (the morning move) plus ice cream, and La Cremeria scoops authentic gelato and Italian ice for the sophisticated seven-year-old palate.

The Parent Cheat Code

Plan the day around the free stuff. Wednesday is the reliable one — free live music on the Events Plaza Stage, 7 to 9 PM, right through October 28. It's outdoors with room to run, so it works fine with kids in tow, and the bands are real Gulf Coast acts rather than background noise. See who's playing →

Build around it: Adventure Zone in the afternoon while everyone still has legs, dinner around 6, free event caps the night. The two dates worth planning a whole trip around are the Art Fest fireworks on September 6 and Trick or Treat Street on Halloween — 6 to 8 PM, trick-or-treating through the Village shops, live music, fireworks at 8.

Check this week's Baytowne events schedule before you go — it updates live, weather forecast included.

Grown-ups: your list exists too.
